The 57th Annual Rimbey Rodeo is back again this year from July 12-14.

On the Friday night, the local rodeo will begin at 6 p.m., and there are a series of different events for people to watch, including the rescue race, the cowhide race, mutton busting, calf scramble, goat tail tying and more.

“That Friday night’s usually a real fun family night,” said Hazel Street, treasurer and promotions director for the Rimbey Exhibition Association.

The parade will take place on the Saturday at 11 a.m. in Rimbey's downtown.

Newly added this year is the dummy roping for the kids to practice roping, with two categories for kids five and under and those six to eight years old.

“That’s just a fun little thing for the younger kids. We always try and find things for the kids to do,” said Street.

Returning again this year is Trick Rider, Riata Guynup.

“She is so good, a real performer, and she goes into the crowd, and for the kids, she’s signing autographs and giving out little things. She’s a very good addition to our rodeo.”

Also in attendance will be 2024 Rimbey Rodeo Queen Jenna Boyce.

Central Alberta Rodeo Association (CARA) rodeo performances take place on both the Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m., with the Slack taking place Saturday at 5 p.m., as they have more entrants they can fit into the performances, giving them an opportunity to compete.

This year they’ve added $500 to the prize money for the saddle bronc, bareback, ladies cows and ladies ranch bronc riding events.

The Co-op and Service Credit Union will be having their regular pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday morning, and beer gardens will be onsite all weekend.

The Agricultural Society is also having a cabaret on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Ag building with DJ On The Mark. This will be $10 a person, with those 12 and under free.

Admission to the rodeo is $10 a person and six and under free.
