A successful CMDRA weekend at the raceways

Racers come out for popular event at Central Alberta Raceways

Fans showed up in droves for the The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association (CMDRA) races on June 22 and 23.

“It went really, really good. We also had bracket racing with the CMDRA bikes,” said Central Alberta Raceways President Roy Keessar.

“We had a really good turnout.”

They also had the Nitro Harleys there and several other classes of bikes.

Saturday entrants did their qualifying component with eliminations taking place Sunday.

Racers came out as far as B.C.

“It’s a good event, they put on a good show, and we usually get a fairly good spectator count when the bikes are here too,” said Keessar.

John Bleys, head executive on the drag side, said with an excellent staff turnout, the track responding well, and great weather, it made for an overall great weekend.

“Including cars, there was over 112 entries, so it was a very successful weekend,” he said.

He added that by also having their Fire and Medics on scene for an accident made for an instantaneous response.

The next CMDRA event is in Edmonton July 12 to 13.
