The Ponoka Stampede explodes out of the bucking shoot June 25.

The Ponoka Stampede, the world’s largest seven-day professional rodeo, has now begun.

Day one of the 88th annual Ponoka Stampede, Tuesday, June 25, is kicking things off with a rodeo, a concert with Gord Bamford, a music video, and a giveaway.

Getting things started are the midway rides and entertainment from West Coast Amusements beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Just one hour later, the 88th Ponoka Stampede starts off with a night of rodeo action from some of the best cowboys and rodeo animals in North America.

Rocker Steiner, riding the award-winning bareback horse F13 Virgil (who are both on this year’s limited edition Ponoka Stampede poster) are riding together on the first night.

There will be fun infield entertainment from John Payne, The One Arm Bandit.

After the rodeo is a country music performance featuring none other than Gord Bamford. His show is part of the Kubota stage performance that will also include the recording of his music video. Anyone with a ticket will be able to be part of that music video but they will also have the chance to win a Kubota RTV 520.

It’s a big night that doesn’t end with Gord’s performance; Brayden King will be performing live in the Ponoka Stampede Showdown Dance Hall starting at 9:30 p.m.
